Russell Wilson remains a free agent, and if he doesn’t end up on an NFL team, then football fans might get the chance of seeing him as an analyst for CBS Sports. So far, there’s only one offer on the table for the veteran quarterback.
Earlier in the month, Wilson visited the New York Jets facility as the AFC East franchise aims to add a veteran signal-caller to its roster. Speaking with Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, Wilson revealed that he has received an offer from the Jets.
It was great[visit]. They [the New York Jets] offered me, and I’m trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV (analysis), so we’ll see what happens.

According to a report from Front Office Sports and the Sports Business Journal, CBS Sports is eyeing Wilson to replace Matt Ryan, who accepted the President of Football at the Atlanta Falcons, on The NFL Today show. The Network is waiting for Wilson to decide on his league future before holding further talks. If he signs with the Jets, the network could hire Hall of Fame linebacker Luke Kuechly.
Wilson spent the 2025-26 season with the Jets’ in-state rivals, the New York Giants. The 37-year-old started under-center in week one, but the Giants benched him after just three games.
Rookie Jaxson Dart took over and made the quarterback spot his own. The Ole Miss alum played all but two games due to a concussion. The Giants ended the year with a 3-14 record.
Wilson completed 69 passes on 119 attempts (58.0%) for 831 yards, threw 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.

The Jets recently signed Geno Smith, who spent several years as Wilson’s backup at the Seattle Seahawks. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich raved about Smith and what the Pro Bowler brings to the team.
I feel his [Geno’s] resilience, his toughness. I always think the No. 1 attribute in any quarterback that you need, especially [if] you want to come and turn something around, is you need someone who’s tough.

The Jets also have Brady Cook, brought in former Patriots and Chiefs QB Bailey Zappe, and drafted Clemson quarterback Kade Klubnik in the fourth round.

Seattle’s rivals might target Russell Wilson
The Seahawks drafted Wilson 75th overall in 2012, and in the following year, he led the NFC West team to a Super Bowl victory. Wilson spent 10 seasons on the Seattle roster, accumulating nine Pro Bowl nods.

Wilson’s next stop was in Denver, followed by Pittsburgh and the Blue side of New York. He’s strongly linked with the Jets, but there’s another team that might make a late push to sign him.
And that team is Seattle’s divisional rivals, the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is searching for a bona fide starter after letting Kyler Murray walk earlier in the year. With Jacoby Brissett’s future in doubt, giving Wilson a chance makes a lot of sense.
The Cardinals are also looking into Aaron Rodgers‘ situation with the Steelers. They drafted former Georgia and Miami QB Carson Beck. However, Beck’s considered a project quarterback.
