India vs England 2021: “Sam Curran was special” – Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow heap praise on youngster’s stunning knock

Sam Curran nearly pulled off a win for the ages for England in the third ODI against India as he waged a lone battle to chase down the target of 330. England seemed down and out at one moment as Mark Wood joined Curran but the latter came up with blow after blow that took his side close to victory. It was only three excellent overs at the death from the Indian bowlers that helped seal victory.
After the stunning knock, Man of the Series Jonny Bairstow as well as England captain Sam Curran heaped praise on the youngster’s show of resolve and character.
Praises galore for Sam Curran
Jonny Bairstow spoke about Sam Curran’s innings at the post match presentation and said, “Curran was special wasn’t he? He’s played out of his skin, and we know the quality and talent he has, and the belief he had to take us over the line, but congratulations to Nattu and how he executed the yorkers at the death. There’s not many people I would trust more than Sam to clear the short boundaries and he was absolutely fantastic today.”
Jos Buttler meanwhile said, “Sam Curran did well to take responsibility, and take a lot of the strike and it took great character to play the way he did, and he has those amazing qualities in abundance. I know he will be disappointed he didn’t get us over the line, but we are all very proud of him and his performance.”
