The first SNME of 2026 is in the books, and what an incredibly action-packed show it was. The main event saw Sami Zayn emerge victorious in a Fatal-4-Way match to become the No. 1 contender to Drew McIntyre‘s Undisputed WWE Championship. Zayn wasn’t the prohibitive favorite heading into last night’s high-stakes bout, with names like Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams also in the mix.

The folks packing the Bell Centre in Montreal were firmly behind their local hero. It was eerily reminiscent of the time when Sami Zayn took on Roman Reigns in the same building two years ago at Elimination Chamber. That night, the former ‘Honorary Uce’ almost upset ‘The Tribal Chief’ for the Undisputed WWE title.

Despite the heart and resolve shown by Zayn, it wasn’t to be for him against the mega villain that Reigns was back then. Could the 41-year-old from Laval make it his night this coming Saturday at the Royal Rumble? The stats don’t favor him at all. He’s 0-11 in singles matches against McIntyre, who affirmed of late that nothing would change if he fought the Canuck again.

‘The Scottish Psychopath’ won his fourth world title in WWE from Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on the 1/9 edition of SmackDown. The hulking specimen from Ayr will now look to weather the Sami Zayn storm in Riyadh, which, in all likelihood, is expected to provide a home-field advantage to ‘The Underdog from the Underground’.

Circling back to how Zayn earned this opportunity, he did so by pinning Damian Priest after landing a Helluva Kick on the former Judgment Day member at Saturday Night’s Main Event. McIntyre tried to sneak attack Zayn afterwards but the latter averted a disaster. A number of fans were expecting Randy Orton to win the Fatal 4-Way last night. It would’ve taken him closer to his fifteenth world title in WWE.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky remain WWE Women’s tag team champs after shenanigans-heavy SNME title defense

In the only women’s match on the card at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky retained the women’s tag team titles against Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez. The major highlight of the match was Raquel Rodriguez dumping Ripley on the referee just when Sky had Morgan down for the pinfall. ‘The Big Sexy’ then dropped ‘The Genius of the Sky’ with a powerbomb at ringside.

It was looking pretty bleak for the champs out there. Rodriguez was stunned when Stephanie Vaquer made her way out and went right after the towering Texan. The reigning women’s world champion has been ambushed a couple of times by ‘Big Mami Cool’ in the first two editions of Raw this year.

Rodriguez told Michael Cole during an interview on Raw that she wouldn’t stop until she got ‘La Primera’ one-on-one in that ring. Vaquer had been dealing with a bad ankle of late. However, she has seemingly recovered from it, as the Chilean wrestler didn’t sport a walking boot during her assault of Rodriguez.

With Rodriguez eliminated from the equation, the playing field evened out. In the closing moments, Perez made the tag to Morgan, who hit the Oblivion on Iyo Sky. Morgan, however, didn’t realize that Rhea Ripley had made a tag to Sky when Morgan had her hung on the ropes for a split second.

‘The Eradicator’ clobbered her longtime rival and former tag team partner with a knee strike and followed it up with the Riptide. And just like that, Ripley and Sky kept their title reign intact. They have already declared themselves for the 30-woman Royal Rumble match next weekend. The latest betting odds, however, are favoring Liv Morgan.
