Shane van Gisbergen brands NASCAR as the “most overcomplicated” racing series
Trackhouse Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen found the NASCAR playoff format amusing and very complicated.

Three times Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen is fully emerged in the NASCAR world after making his full-time debut in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing. His impressive three-win season so far has also earned him a spot in the playoffs and a promotion to a full-time Cup seat with Trackhosue Racing in 2025.
Despite being the winningest driver in the Xfinity garage, the playoff will tough for Shane van Gisbergen to survive. The lack of road course races where he dominates and the Playoff format that demands more from the racer. The post-season format was one of the things SVG found really hard to understand.
While talking about it, ahead of the Kansas Xfinity playoff race, he admitted that the NASCAR playoff system is really crazy and asserted that it makes the stock car racing series the most overcomplicated championship he has ever racer in. He enjoys this complexity and sees it as pretty cool, as he believes its great for the fans.
Shane van Gisbergen had fun learning about the format
The Kiwi racer explained how he learned about the format and how he helped his fans, not well versed with NASCAR. One his sponsors released an article explaining the format and SVG used this as his difference. He also shared it to his fans as well via social media.
SVG had good start to his Xfinity playoff debut at Kansas, that saw him securing a P8 finish and securing some valuable points. He has to continue performing on the same level in the upcoming races at Talladega and Charlotte, to confine being championship contender.
