“He’s a beaten man,” 46-year-old Superstar sends an audacious message to Gunther vying to end their trilogy ahead of WWE Raw
Sheamus is riled up to share the ring with The Ring General himself on Raw this week.

Despite not being on the card for Backlash on Saturday, Gunther returns to the grind on Raw. There’s just no rest for the weary. He’s set to battle Sheamus, a man who hasn’t been able to double down on The Ring General in the singles encounters the two have had. Despite an abysmal track record against the Austrian, The Celtic Warrior isn’t looking to back down. Instead, he has issued a warning.
Sheamus took to X and reacted to the announcement of their first-round King of the Ring match this Monday. The Irish wrestler claimed that Gunther is now a beaten man. And it’s about time they settled the score straight to end their trilogy. The Great White also mentioned the number 666. It will continue to bogey the Imperium supremo for the rest of his life.
The two grapplers first butted heads in 2022 at the Clash at the Castle PLE. The IC title was up for grabs, and the former Walter hadn’t met his match up until that point. Albeit The Celtic Conqueror came ever-so-close to uprooting the champion, he couldn’t get the job done. Sheamus also expressed resentment at his creative direction following the slobberknocker.

Their next meeting happened to be at WrestleMania 39. Gunther was defending the strap not only against the Cabra-born wrestler but also Drew McIntyre. Again, the same story—the ex-League of Nations member bottled it up. Will it be any different when the two goliaths collide this Monday in Hartford on Raw? Well, time will tell.
Was there any right choice Gunther had in his mind for his successor as the IC Champion?
It was at the 666-day mark when it struck midnight on his record-breaking Intercontinental Championship reign. At WrestleMania XL, Gunther went down against a spirited Sami Zayn. If anything, what that loss evinced is that the Vienna-born wrestler is anything but indefeasible. ‘Mania 40 was the instance where Gunther had been pinned for the first time ever since coming to the main roster.
A few days ago, the longest reigning NXT UK Champion disclosed whom he believed would’ve been the right choice to dethrone him. Although he said there wasn’t a single right man for the job, he cited Chad Gable as a viable option.
Not to forget that The Alpha Academy leader was the first to hand Gunther a loss on the main roster, though via count-out. Before dropping the working man’s title to the former Honorary Uce, the European Superstar did enough to cement himself as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time.
