The Cleveland Browns suffered yet another defeat in their 2025 season on Sunday (November 16), losing the divisional matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns game, more than being a casual loss, also saw the quarterback troubles reaching a new peak.
The Browns started the game with the Oregon Ducks alum and rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel has been the starter for a few weeks now after the Browns traded their veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals in the middle of the season. Since taking over, Gabriel has led the Browns to a victory just once while losing five games.
The poor record has been frustrating the fans for some time. As Gabriel failed to make any moves in the beginning minutes of the game and threw an errant throw, he was loudly booed by the fans in the stands. Gabriel was eventually called in after he was injured and replaced with Colorado Buffaloes star and fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders. Gabriel finished the game with just seven completions on ten passes for 68 yards.
The Browns’ fans seem to have a grudge against Gabriel, and it can be assumed that this has affected his time at Huntington Field massively. The boos was representative of this hatred, and even his replacement, Sanders, noted this in his post-game conference.
I’m extremely thankful. Let me say this…when Dillon’s out there playing, I appreciate the fans but it’s not helping the team. That can be taken as I’m being a distraction and I’m not even doing nothing.

Sanders himself had a poor experience playing in his first game for the Browns. He completed just four passes while attempting 16, and even threw an interception. The production numbers were highly criticized by the media, who ripped him apart for his no-show against a weak Ravens roster. However, he has earned fans back with his response and the narrative. Plus, the two seemed to have moved away from the tension that had existed a month back.
Shedeur Sanders has more work to do if he wants to become a starting quarterback in the NFL
In case the Cleveland Browns test out Shedeur Sanders in the coming week against the Las Vegas Raiders, he would be the 42nd starter for the franchise since 1999. The Browns have been riddled with quarterback inconsistencies for a very long period, and the unfortunate times are just sticking on like an old stain that just won’t vanish.

Heading into Week 12, Sanders hasn’t convinced anyone, not the NFL insiders anyway, of his skills. Jason Lloyd of The Athletic wrote a scathing review of Sanders’ performance against the Baltimore Ravens. He claimed that Sanders wasn’t a case of the management in Ohio doing their usual self-sabotage, but his inadequacies were the problem on Sunday.
Sanders certainly didn’t look like an NFL starting quarterback for most of his time on the field Sunday… All of the criticisms of him, he holds the ball too long, he isn’t processing what he’s seeing. He runs out of the back of the pocket when pressured, were on full display in the second half. He was sacked twice.
Nevertheless, Lloyd doesn’t believe that these problems are persistent. He admitted that Sanders may get there once. Lloyd didn’t point fingers at the limited first-team reps but offered a broader perspective to think about deeply. He claimed that the management made a mistake by not holding the quarterback back but letting him, as well as his injured counterpart, onto the field without enough time for development by trading Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.
