Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan took the opportunity and rose to the occasion by smashing 78 off 50 balls at the DC vs SRH Qualifier 2 on Sunday. He hit six fours and two sixes contributing to put up a whopping total of 189/3.

However, his dismissal during the penultimate over of the innings raised many eyebrows. Dhawan was given a leg-before wicket to Sandeep Sharma’s bowling as he tried to reverse sweep Sharma’s full toss but missed it completely. The batsman started walking off the pitch even before the umpire raised his finger.

But the replay suggested that the impact was outside off stump. And Dhawan would have survived had he challenged the on-field decision. Fans wondered why Dhawan didn’t ask for a DRS. Asking the same question Yuvraj Singh pulled Dhawan’s leg on social media recently.

Like many viewers watching the Qualifier 2 on Sunday, even former India player Yuvraj Singh wondered why Dhawan didn’t ask for a DRS.

He took to social media to pull the DC player’s leg.

Great come back by bowlers in the last 2 overs ! Not even A single boundary scored hats off natrajan and @sandeep25a pressure game execution to the point! @SDhawan25 man in form but naam to jatt ji hai. how bout drs bro? as usual must have forgotten game on #DCvSRH,” Yuvraj tweeted.

Replying to Singh, Dhawan explained why he didn’t ask for a DRS. He said he thought he was plumb and that’s why he started his march towards the pavilion. He further admitted that the thought of challenging the decision crossed his mind much later, almost after he had reached the boundary ropes.

Hahahah pajhi mainu lag gya plumb hai tah muuh chuk chal paya jadh boundary tey pahuncha tadh pata lag gya,” Dhawan responded in Punjabi.

His reply would roughly be translated to, “I thought I was plumb that’s why started to walk but when I reached the boundary, I realised that,

After Dhawan’s wicket, the SRH bowlers dried out the runs and didn’t concede a single boundary in the last two overs. Despite this, the SRH batting line-up found it difficult to chase DC’s score. DC won by 17 runs and qualified for their first ever IPL finals.

They will now lock horns with Mumbai Indians for the IPL title on Tuesday.
