Shohei Ohtani gave Decoy a high five and some treats for doing the job well. His dog became the main attraction back in November when he did not reveal his name, making the whole situation more mysterious. To further hype up the crowd, Ohtani launched an HR as soon as he got on the plate as well as two stolen bases.

Funnily enough, Ohtani was seen copying Decoy’s expression after the team won the game against Orioles. His expression became iconic as fans enjoyed the moment to laugh to the fullest. Seeing Decoy and Ohtani perfectly in sync on Wednesday, one X user commented, “Hahaha, what a pose.” However, there were missed reactions to his Decoy imitation.

Why was there a mystery surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s dog’s name?

For the longest time, Shohei Ohtani tried to hide his dog’s name from the public, adding a more subtle mystery to it. Before he revealed the name, many fans including players and ex-MLB players started guessing what it could be.

Even Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler commented on social media, “So his dog was named Dodger after all?” Many had doubts that his dog’s name could be related to a team as it was during the free agency buzz.

However, the $700 million contractee revealed his dog’s name to be Dekopin, which in Japanese means “flicking someone’s forehead”. He stated that it may have been difficult for the American people to pronounce so they could just call him Decoy.
