“I shall be back soon” – Shreyas Iyer takes to Twitter to thank fans for support following injury

Shreyas Iyer suffered from a serious shoulder dislocation during India’s first ODI against England and as things stand, his participation in the remainder of the series as well as the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) where he is Delhi Capitals’ captain has been ruled out. DC co-owner Parth Jindal took to Twitter to state that he was devastated with the franchise’s captain’s injury thereby confirming that he won’t take part.

The injury occurred during the 8th over of England’s innings in the first ODI in Pune when the 26-year-old dived to stop a boundary and was successful in doing so. However, he landed hard on his left shoulder and was left writhing in pain as teammates and the physio rushed to his aid. He was taken off the field and to a nearby hospital where scans were taken before it was reported about his availability.

Shreyas Iyer took to Twitter today to thanks his fans for the support and love. He posted two pictures of his injury from the match and wrote, “I’ve been reading your messages and have been overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone. You know what they say, the greater the setback, the stronger the comeback. I shall be back soon“
Shreyas Iyer’s absence in the IPL would be a huge blow for his franchise as they would now search for a new captain as well as a batsman to replace him in the playing 11. DC open their campaign in Mumbai against the Chennai Super Kings on the 10th of April.
