Today marks a complete year since CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series. When that static of his entrance music hit, the Allstate Arena in Chicago lost it. Everyone was on their feet; some froze, and a few were even weeping in ecstasy. WWE has now posted a behind-the-scenes documentary on YouTube chronicling what transpired when he arrived at the gorilla position, went out, and came back to share more hugs.

In a wholesome excerpt from the clip, Randy Orton could be seen greeting The Straight Edge Superstar after he walked back through the curtain. Orton hilariously yelled at Punk for not even letting him enjoy 10 minutes of his return. For the unversed, Randy had also returned to in-ring action earlier that night after being on the shelf for 18 months. After the two giggled for a bit, they hugged it out.

The Apex Predator was personally informed by Triple H before the PLE that Punk was coming back. And, to his credit, Orton was cool with that, no matter if it’d overshadowed his moment by some margin. Apart from this, as seen above, before Punk walked out, he was going back and forth with Triple H about whether he needed to go inside the WarGames structure.

Can I not enjoy 10 minutes of my f**king return?

Thankfully, that confusion was cleared up in time. After Punk got backstage, The Game asked for their photo to be clicked in front of the WWE logo so as to blow up the internet.

Hunter posted that on his X with a caption saying, “Mighty cold day in hell.” The Second City Saint met a number of superstars backstage, including Kofi Kingston and Bayley, who even requested Punk to try bringing AJ Lee back as well in the future.

Seth Rollins was incensed at CM Punk for coming back to WWE

Some people kissed him on the head; many held him close in their arms, and everyone in the arena was on cloud nine seeing CM Punk back. But Seth Rollins? Not so much. In fact, he absolutely went off on the 46-year-old Chicagoan.

Several fan videos captured a furious Rollins hurling F-bombs at Punk, not to mention the middle finger gesture that added to the moment. Punk and Seth have had real-life beef with each other. In fact, The Visionary even called The Best in the World a cancer for the locker room during an interview he did prior to his return.

They’re pegged for a showdown at WrestleMania 41. It was penciled in for this year itself. But Punk’s injury derailed those plans. The Voice of the Voiceless will compete at this Saturday’s Survivor Series in the WarGames match, siding with the OG Bloodline.
