Stefon Diggs surprisingly remains without any job even after two weeks of free agency. Diggs holds a decade’s worth of NFL tape in his locker that also includes his re-enactment of the iconic Stone Cold Steve Austin celebration.

During week four of the 2023 season, the Bills played against divisional rivals the Miami Dolphins at home. The 31-year-old caught a sublime pass from quarterback Josh Allen to score the first of his three touchdowns.

After scoring the touchdown, Diggs ran into the crowd surrounded by James Cook, Khalil Herbert, and Gabe Davis. One of the Bills Mafia handed Diggs a couple of beer cans, which smashed together to mimic the famous WWE superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin’s trademark celebration.

Diggs finished the game with 6 receptions for 120 yards and three scores. The Bills secured a 48-20 win over the Dolphins. After the game, Diggs joked about the beer celebration.

I owe someone like $18

Stefon Diggs said

In reality, he owed $13,659 for the celebration, not to the fan who gave him the beer cans, but to the league. The NFL committee fined the 4x Pro Bowler, branding the celebration as unsportsmanlike conduct.

Diggs wasn’t the only one penalized. DaQuan Jones was fined $16,391 for a hit on Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and Ed Oliver was ordered to pay a total of $27,318 for two separate fouls.

Stefon Diggs visited the New England Patriots

2023 was the last campaign for Diggs in a Bills jersey. Following a fallout with Allen, Diggs left and signed with the Houston Texans to play with CJ Stroud.

It took a few weeks for Stroud to establish a connection with his new receiver. In week 3, Diggs recorded 10 receptions for 92 yards against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. He never looked back, averaging 60+ yards in the season.

However, a noncontact injury later turned out to be a torn ACL in week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts, ending his season. That game turned out to be Diggs’ final game in Texans colors. He entered free agency as a top candidate but still remains without a team.

The interest in the Maryland graduate increased recently. According to reports, the New England Patriots are the front runners to sign Diggs. The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov revealed that Diggs visited the Patriots on Thursday and even went to dinner with a couple of the front office members.

FOX Sports Jodan Schultz reported that no contract was signed during the visit.

As it was described to me, this was more of a ‘get to know you’ and ‘where you’re at medically’ type of meeting.

Insider wants the Patriots to take a chance with Diggs

Patriots’ insider Mike Giardi said that his team is struggling to find players in the offense. They brought in a slew of players to patch up the defense and the D-line, but quarterback Drake Maye still doesn’t have a star receiver on the roster whom he can depend on for guidance.

[The Patriots] are really backed into a corner in terms of no left tackle, no wide receiver one, and no wide receiver two. Who knows what Diggs is when he comes back? If he can be the same guy [after the injury].

Mike Giardi said

However, Giardi still wants the Patriots to sign Diggs because they need someone like him.

It’s worth a dice roll at this point. Just based on, ‘This is our room; we have problems.’ And if he can [be 85% to 90%] of what he was before the injury at some point during the season, then that’s our best receiver.

Stefon Diggs has played 144 games in the NFL. In those games, he caught 857 passes for 10491 yards and scored 70 touchdowns.
