Stephen A. Smith asserts Klay Thompson will be a ‘big-time’ addition to any championship team despite his horrendous outing against the Kings
Klay Thompson is now going into free agency to look for a new place to play at.
Stephen A. Smith and Klay Thompson
The Golden State Warriors suffered a defeat against the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In tournament. Klay Thompson had a tough game, going 0 of 10 from the field and remaining scoreless. This loss marks the Warriors’ third miss of the postseason in the last ten seasons. It was one of the worst games of Thompson’s career.
Thompson had never played a game with 0 points in the end since his rookie season. Giving rise to the notion that one-half of the Splash Brothers seems to have lost their spark. Following their championship back in 2022, the Dubs have taken the tasks lightly, costing them two underperforming seasons.
Thompson’s future is uncertain now that he is an unrestricted free agent. However, Stephen A. Smith believes that Thompson remains a valuable asset for any team looking to bolster their roster.
To be quite honest with you, I think that at this stage and point in Klay Thompson's career; I think he would be big-time valuable to a championship team. Could you imagine LeBron James having Klay Thompson to kick the ball out to on the wing? Could you imagine the New York Knicks with Brunson and those boys having Klay Thompson to kick the ball out to?said Stephen A. Smith via First Take
Thompson, known as one of the best shooters in NBA history, faces an intriguing decision about his future with the Bay. If he chooses to depart, he’ll have numerous options available, given his talent. Considering Thompson’s ability, he would be an ideal addition for any title contender, as Smith mentioned.
Klay Thompson might want to run it back with the Warriors once again
While the splash brother has struggled from outside for quite a long while, he can still look to run it back with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. The Dubs dynasty has brought in four championships in seven years and has made it to the finals six times. As the trio approaches the end of their career, it wouldn’t hurt to see them get back at it one last time.
Thompson surely has about three to four seasons left. Ever since his injury, Thompson has managed to get back to his shooting rhythm. However, the 34-year-old will have to continue to be consistent on the offensive end of the floor.
In case the Dubs want the trio to make one last run, as their coach does, before any of them decides to leave, they’ll have to introduce a handsome contract for Thompson. With the playoffs approaching, the front office will wait till the end of the postseason before they offer any contract to him. Whereas for Thompson, he’ll look to decide his future with the team.
