Night 2 of SummerSlam 2025 delivered just as much chaos and drama as the first. Held on Sunday, August 3, the second night of WWE’s blockbuster event featured six championship matches, each with major implications for the company’s future. The main event was a classic 37-minute marathon street fight between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. In front of a roaring crowd of over 60000, fans witnessed the return of the babyface, never-give-up version of Cena in what turned out to be every bit their WrestleMania 41 match should have been.

‘The American Nightmare’ ultimately walked out as a 2-time Undisputed WWE Champion. The two legends traded finishers, weapons, and even battled through the crowd in a match packed with callbacks and carnage. Cena delivered multiple AAs, including one from the second rope and another through the announce desk. Rhodes, however, survived it all, landing multiple Cross Rhodes and even using a ring rope rod as a weapon.

In the end, a final Cody Cutter through a table, followed by a third Cross Rhodes sealed Cena’s fate. Post-match, Rhodes showed respect by leaving the ring for Cena to soak in the crowd. And while many fans expected ‘The American Nightmare’ to turn heel, nothing of that sort happened. But after the match, Cena was interrupted by the earth-shattering return of Brock Lesnar, who delivered a vicious F5 to the 17-time world champion to close out SummerSlam 2025.

Naomi proved once again why she’s not to be underestimated, escaping with her Women’s World Championship after a wild opening flurry against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky in a triple-threat bout. The champion played mind games early, letting Ripley and Sky go at it before stepping in with dirty tactics like hair-pulling, thumb-biting, and well-timed breaks.

Despite a short-lived alliance, Ripley accidentally leveled Sky with a Big Boot, fracturing their teamwork. After a Poisonrana from Sky and a brutal Avalanche Riptide from Ripley, Naomi snuck in and rolled up Ripley for the win, escaping with her title intact, leaving her challengers stunned in the ring.

In what was a chaotic outing, Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis of The Wyatt Sicks survived a wild Tables, Ladders & Chairs match at SummerSlam 2025 to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships against five top-tier teams: Rey Fenix & Andrade, #DIY, The Street Profits, Motor City Machine Guns, and FrAxiom. As mentioned, the match was packed with carnage! Table crashes, ladder dives, and high-impact spots.

Gargano DDT’d Gacy through a table, Lumis hit a top-rope leg drop on Montez Ford, and Axiom Spanish-Fly’d Dawkins through a table as chaos unfolded everywhere. Outside interference added to the mayhem: B-Fab and Candice LeRae tried to help their teams but were neutralized.

One of the big spots in the match came when LeRae got slammed through a ladder by Nikki Cross. In the end, interference from Erick Rowan and Uncle Howdy opened the door for Gacy and Lumis to climb the ladder and retain their titles.

Becky Lynch, Dominick Mysterio, and Solo Sikoa retain their respective belts at SummerSlam 2025

Becky Lynch held on to the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a brutal no-disqualification match against Lyra Valkyria at SummerSlam 2025. Moreover. ‘Big Time Becks’ and got some unexpected help from Bayley. The match featured all-out violence: Lynch used kendo sticks, a crowbar, chains, and even zip-tied Valkyria’s wrists before beating her down with a wrench and hanging her from the ring post.

Despite being tied up, Valkyria hit a stunning moonsault and later countered a Manhandle Slam to land a Night Wing on the floor. Just when Valkyria seemed poised to win, Bayley stormed in to attack Lynch but accidentally struck Valkyria instead. Lynch took advantage, landing a final Manhandle Slam to seal the win

Apart from this, the Irishwoman also got a new entrance theme for the first time in over a decade. But the important thing to note is that with this loss, ‘The Lady Bird’ can no longer challenge Lynch for the title. On the men’s side of things, Dominik Mysterio retained his Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles at SummerSlam in a match filled with heartfelt tributes to the late Eddie Guerrero.

‘The Phenomenal One’ entered the arena in a low-rider and even wore Guerrero’s iconic SummerSlam 2005 attire, paying homage to the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio and Guerrero’s legendary ladder match for Dominik’s custody.

Both competitors honored Eddie’s legacy throughout the bout, trading clever “Lie, Cheat, Steal” spots. Dominik faked a chair attack in classic Guerrero style, only for Styles to flip the script by pretending he’d been hit instead.

As the match reached its climax, Styles had Dominik in the Calf Crusher, but the champion escaped thanks to a loosened boot. With the referee distracted, Dominik struck Styles with the boot and followed with a frog splash to seal the win and keep his title.

Solo Sikoa retained the United States Championship against Jacob Fatu in a hard-hitting Steel Cage Match at SummerSlam 2025, but it was Fatu who left with the final word. The bout started with Fatu unleashing relentless offense, but Sikoa absorbed the punishment and slammed Fatu into the cage walls. Repeated escape attempts by Sikoa were denied by Fatu, keeping the fight inside the structure.

As the action escalated, Sikoa’s MFT allies, JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, and Talla Tonga, tried to tip the scales. Jimmy Uso briefly evened the odds, but was overpowered by the larger Tonga. Fatu was handcuffed to the cage roof by the MFTs, yet broke free in a defiant show of strength.

The finish came when Tonga slammed the cage door into Fatu’s face, allowing Sikoa to escape and retain his title. However, post-match, Fatu and Uso got revenge as they tossed Mateo and Loa back into the cage, where Fatu ended the affair with a jaw-dropping moonsault from the top of the cage, standing tall despite the loss.
