Former Australia cricketer and former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach, Tom Moody has been appointed by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise as their new Director of Cricket. Moody had served as head coach right from the franchise’s inception to the IPL in 2019. The Australian also led the franchise to the IPL title in 2016 and was a favorite among the SRH faithful.

Moody was replaced with fellow Australian and World Cup-winning coach with England in 2019, Trevor Bayliss who took the side to a third-placed finish despite a bad start to the tournament. The Australians will now work together in hopes of taking the side to their second IPL title with the team led by another Australian in David Warner.

SRH announce news of Moody’s appointment

Sunrisers Hyderabad took to Twitter today to announce the news of Tom Moody’s return to the franchise. They tweeted, “Announcement! @TomMoodyCricket has been appointed as the Director of Cricket for SunRisers Hyderabad.” The Tweet has since then gone viral with fans of the franchise expressing their excitement at the Australian’s return and the prospect of him working together with Trevor Bayliss.

It remains to be seen if there will be a mega-auction for next year and if there is one, the Australian duo will have a lot to ponder about with regard to retaining players and coming up with a plan for the auction.
