Suresh Raina set to return to cricketing action with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina who hasn’t played a competitive match in over 9 months is finally set to make his return with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he will represent Uttar Pradesh. Raina had earlier announced his retirement from international cricket in August along with MS Dhoni but made it clear that he would continue playing domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to ‘personal reasons’ and rumors were rife about a conflict with the team management. With reports of new teams in the IPL in 2021, it has been speculated that Raina would move on from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise to a new franchise.
Raina shares images from the nets
Suresh Raina took to Twitter to share images from the nets for the Uttar Pradesh team. The images showed Raina sweating it out at the nets along with fellow UP batsman Priyam Garg. Raina has regularly posted such images of him training both at the nets and at the gym as he makes it clear that he is fit, ready and in shape for competitive cricket in 2021.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will take place from January 10 to January 31 in 2021 after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament could be the perfect platform for Raina to announce that he is ready to make waves in the domestic circuit.
