“Ready to go back” – CWG gold medalist Cody Simpson reveals probable plan to return to music career
Cody Simpson
Popular Australian singer Cody Simpson, who underwent a crazy transformation in recent times, is currently representing his country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The former teenage singing sensation earlier clinched a gold medal in the media 4*100m freestyle relay event.
In a recent interview, the Queensland native Simpson revealed his participation in swimming events doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his music career. Cody stated that he might return to the tour once he’s done with the stuff here.
“I’ll be ready to go back to it when I’m done swimming,” he told Channel 7. “I knew that I’d be just putting it on the side for a while, while I came back to the sport.“
“I remember just pretty much working 365 days a year from the age of 14 but just loving every minute of it and will continue to, long after I finish swimming. I’ll definitely be getting back on tour once this is all done.”
“Hope I get other kids get into swimming because it’s cool”
Simpson surely had one of the greatest moments of his swimming career when he competed in his pet event – the 100m butterfly on Wednesday. However, he was slow out the blocks but did well after the first 50m turn before he powered home in the second 50m. He recorded a timing of 52.06 seconds, marking the second-quickest of his career, but was still outside his personal best of 51.79 seconds.
“That’s something that I hope can inspire other people as well to feel as though if they stop pursuing something for some time if they want to pick it up again, you can. It’s not too late,” he said.
“I hope it inspires other kids to get into the sport of swimming because I think swimming’s cool.”
