Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney is famous as a multiple-time world champion in the boxing community. However, despite his impressive reputation, he is currently facing criticism from several prominent figures in the sport. Recently, a team member of Gervonta Davis highlighted Haney’s last fight against Ryan Garcia to point out some intriguing aspects.

Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia faced off in April 2024 after months of controversy that built up hype for the fight. Notably, in that bout, the 26-year-old undefeated boxer Haney endured several brutal knockdowns from Garcia. Months later, Gervonta Davis’s coach, Kenny Ellis, spoke out, revealing an interesting insight about the aftermath of Haney’s defeat.

A friend of mine got his jaw broken once during a boxing match, he wanted to get back as soon as possible, but do to the severity of the fracture he had to take a year off before any full contact. But in some cases you can get back to full contact in two or three months depending on the fracture and where the fracture is located on the jaw….

Coach Ellis indirectly mentioned that Haney, in particular, suffered a jaw fracture, which has prevented him from fighting since April 2024. Interestingly, about 3-4 months ago, there were discussions about the 26-year-old boxer potentially facing former IBF light-welterweight champion Liam Paro. However, that matchup did not occur, and Paro ultimately fought Richardson Hitchins a few weeks ago.

There isn’t a strong camaraderie between Haney and Davis. Over the years, the boxing community has witnessed the two boxers engaging in several back-and-forth exchanges. This might be why Coach Ellis did not directly mention Haney’s name, as he likely wanted to avoid reigniting their rivalry. Speaking of Haney’s situation, he has not been linked to any matchups other than those against Paro and Garcia.

After suffering a brutal defeat against Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney was disheartened by the loss. However, the result was later overturned to a no-contest when Garcia tested positive for banned substances. Following this, discussions about a rematch between the two young boxers intensified within the community and garnered significant attention.

In light of this, top boxing coach Kenny Ellis, a member of Team Gervonta Davis, shared his insights on the situation. He expressed confidence that a rematch between Garcia and Haney could become one of the biggest fights in boxing.

I can say because of this situation, all this going back and forth and all this smoke, next year that fight (Garcia vs. Haney) can be one of the biggest fights on PPV.

Originally, it was Haney who refused to have a rematch against Garcia. However, recently, ‘King Ry’ expressed his desire to avoid facing the 26-year-old undefeated boxer again. Despite this, many prominent figures in the boxing community, including Coach Ellis, are advocating for a matchup between Garcia and Haney once more.
