Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Alexander Zverev visits his beloved FC Bayern Club

World No.5 Alexander Zverev has been on an emotional and physical, roller-coaster ride after winning the coveted gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The German tennis player was also given a grand reception on his arrival back home. Later, the 23-year-old also indulged in several, tiring media obligations.

Recently, Zverev was spotted spending time at his beloved football club, FC Bayern. The gold medalist was invited as a special guest, as part of the Paulaner Legends Club.

Speaking on the special occasion, Zverev explained his feeling and thoughts on winning the gold medal in Tokyo.

“Of course, it’s an incredible feeling,” Zverev said. “Winning gold at the Olympics is the greatest thing you can achieve in sport. All the hard work over the last few years is paying off. I’m a very normal person. It’s nice to see that the other football legends here are also normal guys.”

Zverev’s visit was already planned before his Olympic triumph

Interestingly, the multiple ATP Masters 1000 champion, further revealed that his visit to the famous club was pre-planned, regardless of the outcome in Tokyo.

“It had already been planned before I won the gold medal. I really wanted to do it. It’s a huge occasion for me as well. It’s wonderful to see all these people here.”

Besides being an FC Bayern and legendary footballer, Oliver Kahn fan, the young German also opened up on his love for HSV, Hamburg.

“I have two favourite clubs. Internationally, at a really high level, it’s always been FC Bayern. My first jersey was an FC Bayern one, with Oliver Kahn on the back. As a Hamburg fan, I’m also a HSV fan. But FC Bayern is the biggest club in the world for me and also the one I follow the most.”

Zverev eyes US Open Going forward, it remains to be seen where Zverev shows up to play the warm-up event on the hard courts, before he heads to the US Open later in the month, in search of his maiden Grand Slam.
