SLAYING! New pictures of Rafael Nadal promoting a watch named after him surface

With an illustrious career spanning nearly two decades, and 20 grand slam trophies, Rafael Nadal is in the receiving end of several lucrative deals. One of his longest endorsement deals has been with luxury watchmaker Richard Mille.

Richard Mille is a Swiss luxury watch company founded in 2001 by Dominique Guenat and Richard Mille. It is based in Les Breuleux, Switzerland. The brand specialises in ultra-high-end luxury watches.

Nadal’s signature orange watch, which he has donned for years, is manufactured by Richard Mille. Recently, promotional pictures of the Spaniard modelling the latest version of the watch has surfaced.

Rafael Nadal’s 2021 season commenced at the Australian Open, where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarters. He later withdrew from the Miami Open. In the clay-court season, Nadal lost at the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Madrid Open, while winning the Barcelona Open for the 12th time and the Rome Masters for the 10th time, record wins in both tournaments. He had defeated Novak in the finals in Rome making Djokovic the person with most losses in the finals at the Rome Masters.

At Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal lost to Novak Djokovic in the semi-final. This was the third instance that Nadal faced defeat in his favourite tournament. In the grass-court season, Nadal withdrew from Wimbledon and subsequently from the Olympic games because of the injury he sustained at the Roland Garros. After making a short comeback at the Washington Open, he withdrew from Toronto, Cincinnati, and the US Open. He retired from the remainder of the year in August.

In the recently released pictures, Rafael Nadal is seen sporting a watch named in his honour. In the photographs, the left-handed legend was seen in a navy turtleneck, and white spread-collar shirt. The snaps featured two different colour variants of the watch model, one with a black dial, blue frame, and white strap; while the other had a blue and black dial, white frame, and blue strap.

The official website of Richard Mille describes the new model as ‘Skeletonised automatic-winding movement with hours, minutes, seconds, patented butterfly rotor, sport mode and function selector’.
