“Andy is a test for Rafa,” Tennis Legend makes bold claims on Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray

Rafael Nadal & Andy Murray
Recently, former World No.2 and a legend of the game, Alex Corretja’s displayed his concern over the early return of Rafael Nadal after his left foot injury. Corretja also added that Former World No.1, Andy Murray is going to be a test for the Spaniard on his return at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2021.
Murray is also making a return to high-level tennis after being suffering from multiple injuries during the past two years. However, Murray will be facing Dan Evans after Dominic Thiem pulled out of the tournament. The battle between the brits could be a closely fought contest, but Andy Murray’s experience gives the former World No.1 an edge over his opponent. If Murray wins he will be facing Rafael Nadal in Semi-Finals.
Corretja’s thoughts on Andy v Rafa

Corretja made some bold claims over Nadal’s ahead-of-schedule return into high-level tennis. He claimed that the Spaniard needs to find his rhythm before the first major of 2022. He also believes that Murray is going to be a test for the Spaniard on his untimely return.
“I think it would be nice to see him [play Andy Murray first in Abu Dhabi], because he is a very smart player who knows perfectly how to play against Rafa. I think playing with Andy can give him a necessary rhythm to play two-and-a-half hours in a very tough match, but at a pace that he likes. With Thiem it might be too explosive. Andy is different, he plays fast, he plays defensively, on offence … it’s a very good test to see where Rafa is,” Corretja said.
If Murray reaches the semis it is going to be a closely contested match between the two. We cannot really focus on the head-to-head records that favour the Spaniard, because Nadal is coming back from an injury. Murray will be a tough opponent and won’t give in that easily.
