Paul has had a fantastic year thus far, despite some inconsistencies. He began with two tournaments in Adelaide, both of which he finished in the quarterfinals. He had a setback as he was knocked out in the second round of the Australian Open. He improved his performance in his following event at Delray Beach, when he reached the semi-finals before losing to top-seed Cameron Norrie. So far, he’s done exceptionally well at the Mexican Open. In his opening round, he defeated fifth-seeded Matteo Berrettini, and in the round of 16, he defeated Dusan Lajovic in three sets, 7-6, 2-6, 7-5.
