Novak Djokovic vs Andrej Martin : Preview
Novak Djokovic continues his dominant run at the Belgrade Open as he cruises past into the semi-finals in his hometown tournament. Djokovic who came to Belgrade as extra practice for the upcoming French Open 2021 where he is seeded 1st, looks certain to reach Paris with a Clay trophy to the name after failing to win one earlier in his 3 tournaments this season on Clay.
The Serbian has been rampant at Belgrade winning both of his previous matches in straight-sets after having received a bye in the first round. Novak won his quarter-final against Federico Coria 6-1, 6-0 in 56 minutes dishing out a bagel in the 2nd set.
Andrej Martin has made a brave run at the Belgrade Open reaching the semi-finals from the qualifying rounds. The Slovakian has been very busy on Clay this year playing the ATP and Challenger tournaments both. He has been playing on Clay since February but is yet to win a title after having reached semis earlier as well.
He won both of his qualifying matches in straight-sets but had to win in his remaining matches in 3-sets as he entered the main draw and finds himself in the semis after fighting back in 3 consecutive matches.
Novak Djokovic vs Andrej Martin : Head to Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the duo, hence the head-to-head stands at 0-0.
Novak Djokovic vs Andrej Martin : Prediction
Martin is 15-11 on Clay this season which happens to be his favourite surface but with the form Djokovic is in right now, it seems difficult for the Slovakian to win against the Serbian. Novak is 9-3 on Clay for the season. Having played 3 consecutive 3-setters can also have an impact on Martin’s game while Novak has made easy outings so far at the tournament.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
