Musetti the nineteen year old Italian grabbed everyone’s attention when he beat Diego Schwartzman en route to the Semi-final of this year’s Acapulco Open. Musetti who was a qualifier in the event eventually lost in the Semi-finals to Stefanos Tsitsipas. The former junior World No.1’s exploits at Acapulco helped him break into the top 100.

Musetti started the clay court leg of the season in decent form as well. He reached the Quarter-final of the first event he played, the Sardegna Open. Since then though, a combination of tough opponents and hard luck has stopped him from recreating the magic that he did in Acapulco. In the first round here, he beat World No.19 Felix Auger Aliassime 7-6 3-6 7-5. In the second round he will face American Sebastian Korda.

Korda achieved his career best ranking of No.62 in the world this year at the Miami Open when he beat Diego Schwartzman in the Round of sixteen encounter. This 6’5” tall twenty year old beat Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France in straight sets in the first round, 7-6 6-4.

Musetti has a very backhand which is to die for, and he invites the ball to his backhand so that he can use it which can be his downfall at times. Against a much higher ranked opponent, Musetti did well in the first round. The high percentage of first serves meant he didn’t lose his nerve at any point. 

The big serving Korda has a big serve and is extremely powerful on his forehand side. But his game is not really the best for clay. Unlike Korda, Musetti has a game which goes brilliantly with the clay court, and that’s why he is the favourite to win this. 

Match Prediction: Lorenzo Musetti will beat Sebastian Korda in three sets.
