Jannik Sinner looks back in his form from the start of the season as he reaches the semi-final in Washington without dropping a set in any of his previous 3 matches. The Italian teenager received a bye in the first round given his seeding and started his campaign against Emil Ruusuvuori in the 2nd round. He then took down Americans Sebastian Korda and Steve Johnson to make it to semis.

Up against Steve Johnson in the quarter-finals, Sinner won the tie 6-4, 6-2 comfortably in 1 hour and 11 minutes to move into his 4th semi-final of the year and now stands a very good chance to make it to the 3rd final of the year if he is able to get past Brooksby.

Jenson Brooksby has been one of the surprise semi-finalists given his lower rank and a rather difficult path compare to any of the 4 semi-finalists in Washington this year. The American despite these tough fixtures has not dropped a set so far. The 20-year old avenged his final defeat in Newport last week defeating South African Kevin Anderson in the first round itself who beat him in the finals.

Brooksby then went on to take down compatriot Frances Tiafoe, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime who was the 2nd seed. In the quarter-finals, Jenson was up against Australian John Millman and went on to defeat him 6-1, 6-2 in 1 hour and 7 minutes to make it consecutive semi-finals on the ATP tour after having spent the majority of the season at Challenger levels.

Jenson will come into the clash with a career Hardcourt record of 74-36 and is 22-4 on the surface for the season which includes his Challenger results. He is 38-7 across all surfaces and will be eyeing yet another final to have a good start to his home leg of the ATP Tour.

Sinner will however be the favourite for the tie as he comes in with a better experience of the bigger stage. Sinner is 15-4 on the hardcourts for this season and has a 42-24 record on the surface across his career. Sinner is 27-14 across all surfaces this season.
