Carlos Alcaraz Garfia is an 18-year-old tennis prodigy who is the current World No.31. The Spaniard is coming into the second round after a comprehensive 6-2,6-2,6-3 win over Chilean Alejandro Tabilo. Alcaraz has unexpectedly shot up the rankings since 2021 and has proved to be one of the best youngsters in the current tennis world. At the 2021 U.S. Open, Alcaraz reached the quarterfinals, causing an upset along the way as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas, ranked third in the world, in a fifth set tiebreak in the third round. He became the youngest player to reach a grand slam quarterfinal in over 30 years.

After World No.1 Novak Djokovic’s controversial exit from the tournament, Dusan Lajovic is the Serbian No.1 at the Australian Open 2022. The Serbian won his first-round encounter 6-3,4-6,6-1,6(6)-7(8),6-1 hard-fought victory over Marton Fucsovics. In the absence of Djokovic, he led the Serbian team at the recently concluded 2022 ATP Cup. He was last seen in the ATP-500 Sydney Tennis Classic 2022, where he exited to Martin Cressy in the round of 16 stage.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia and Dusan Lajovic have never met each other before, with their meeting at the Australian Open second round set to be their first.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia vs Dusan Lajovic: Match Predictions

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia’s rise over the past year has not been anything short of exceptional. After his US Open 2021 landmark, the youngster then went on to win the year-end ATP Next Gen Finals. The Spaniard would be hoping that after patches of good performances, 2022 will be the year where he would truly announce himself to the world.

Meanwhile, Dusan Lajovic would play with fire in his belly after he had earlier urged the Serbian contingent at the tournament to give extra to avenge Djokovic’s mistreatment by the authorities. The Serbian World No.39 would look to make it further into the tournament. This would be a close match, with their rankings denoting the same fact.

Match Prediction-  Alcaraz to win in four sets.
