Belinda Bencic Vs Misaki Doi: Preview

Belinda Bencic
Belinda Bencic won her first round match against American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-3

Bencic comes into the second round having clinically dispatched Jessica Pegula of USA in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. She has blown hot and cold this year. Apart from a run to the final in Adelaide and Berlin, she has struggled to make much of an impact.this won’t be the first time Bencic will be representing her country. She was part of Switzerland’s Billie Jean King Cup team in 2012 at the age of 14, and has since featured in three other editions. She also won the now obsolete Hopman Cup twice, partnering Swiss maestro Roger Federer.

The Japanese home favourite won her first round clash with Mexico’s Renata Zarazua in similar fashion, winning 6-3, 6-2. This was her first match since losing out to Chinese Claire Liu in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships

Belinda Bencic Vs Misaki Doi: Head to Head

Misaki Doi
Misaki Doi will be hoping to make her home advantage count

Belinda and Misaki recently faced off at the Adelaide International, where the Swiss prevailed 6-1, 6-3 to reach the quarter finals. The head to head stand at 1-0.

Belinda Bencic Vs Misaki Doi Prediction

Belinda Bencic
Bencic made an impressive run at Adelaide and Berlin but had a horrific Wimbledon first round showing

Bencic’s best record at slams was reaching the semi-finals at the US Open a couple of years ago. In an enthralling semi-final matchup against eventual champion Bianca Andreescu, Bencic went on to lose a tight three-setter. On paper, Bencic looks the best bet but of course, home advantage and support doesn’t count for nothing and Doi will be looking to earn inspiration from that fact.

Prediction: Bencic to emerge victorious after 3 sets
