Seventh seed Matteo Berrettini is in the form of his life currently. After his amazing quarterfinal run at the French Open where he lost to Novak Djokovic, Berrettini went on to win the title at Queen’s Club beating the likes of Andy Murray, Dan Evans and Alex de Minaur. The Italian just dropped one set in the entire tournament, against Cameron Norrie in the final.
This week in Wimbledon, he beat Argentine Guido Pella in the first round in four sets 6-4,3-6,6-4,6-0. He was dominant throughout the match expect one service game in the second set which cost him.
As for his opponent, Botic van de Zandschulp, he did well to come out of the qualifying rounds, dropping just one set. In the first round, he defeated fellow qualifier Grégoire Barrère in four sets 6-2,6-7(4),6-1,7-6(3).
