Canadian Bianca Andreescu stunned the world at the 2019 US Open when she won the her maiden grand slam at Flushing Meadows after defeating Serena Williams in the final. She was then projected as the next big thing in women’s tennis and rightly so she delivered at times.
But that 2019 US Open has been the highest point in Bianca’s career so far. Ever since her triumph, she has been on a gradual decline and has suffered with a lot of injuries. Latest, she has decided to start her 2022 season a little late as she is not completely fit both mentally and physically.
During her time off court, Bianca took some time off her busy schedule to send an adorable message to her fan. The fan took to twitter to express his excitement about the same. “My friend got me on Secret Santa and DMd Bianca Andreescu and she’s sent this video for me! I was so shocked!” he wrote.
“She also is sending me a gift, Bibi and her family are the nicest people ever. I also can’t thank my friend from work enough, it’s so thoughtful and means so much to me,” he concluded.
In the video, Bianca is seen thanking him for all the support and wished him Happy Holidays. “Hey Tommy, it’s Bianca. I just wanted to take a few moments to say some things. First of all, happy holidays. I wish you all the best. Second of all, thank you so much for all of the support throughout the years, it really means a lot, especially through the rough times because there were a lot, but also a lot of good moments,” the Canadian said in the wholesome video.
Andreescu withdraws from 2022 Australian Open
A few days ago, Bianca released a statement stating that she won’t compete at the 2022 Australian Open as she has decided to take a short break from tennis. She stated that the last two years were very challenging for her because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Hi everyone. As you all know, the past two years have been very challenging for me for a variety of reasons. Especially this year in particular, I spent multiple weeks in isolation quarantining which affected me greatly – both mentally and physically. In addition, my grandmother spent several weeks in the ICU due to a covid infection, something that really hit me hard,” she said.
Bianca is expected to get herself mentally back on track during this break and stage a strong comeback.
