“Carlos Alcaraz is so fun to watch and Reilly Opelka is just…”- Venus Williams’ unusual answer to ‘favorite player’ reignites relationship rumors

Venus Williams and Riley Opelka
Venus Williams might be on the sidelines with injuries plaguing the latter stages of her career, but she is keeping herself occupied with her off-court business endeavors. Williams holds many business ventures and has several lucrative endorsement deals. She launched her own apparel line, EleVen in 2012 and is also the founder of South Florida-based interior design company, V Star.
Venus engaged with her fans in a candid Q&A on the Instagram handle of her brand EleVen. One of her fans quizzed the American over which player’s game style she likes the most. Venus replied saying it was Carlos Alcaraz and a rather uncanny answer in Reilly Opelka.
“@carlitosalcarazz is so fun to watch and @reillyopelka is just…” Venus replied.
Carlos Alcaraz has been in red hot form as of late and is coming off a triumph at the Miami Open. Whereas Opelka has not fared badly himself, having already won a title this year- at the Dallas Open.
Rumors have been flying around regarding Opelka and Venus’ relationship as both are often spotted together and share pics on social media with each other. But Venus denied the rumors recently during an Instagram Q&A session saying, “Will you do something extraordinary? So for all of you guys who asked me would I like to get married, what are you going to do so? So then, you know, I am single, so maybe there will be something that will move me. Let me know.” And Venus shares a sportive relationship with the big-serving American and often gives a shout out to Opleka and congratulated her ‘favorite player’ on his title triumph in Dallas.
Venus Williams yet to play a match in 7 months

As for Venus, her return to action is still unclear. Her last match was at the 2021 WTA Chicago Fall Tennis Classic in August, in which she suffered a second-round exit to Su Wei Hsieh. As a result, she has plummeted down the standings and is now ranked 1421st. Williams had to withdraw from the spring hard court swing this year and said she is still recuperating from her injury. She will most likely miss the entirety of the clay-court season as well. However, Venus has proclaimed that she is adamant about making a return.
Following her sister, Serena Williams‘ recent announcement that she will be aiming for a comeback at the Wimbledon, Venus also hinted at a comeback. In a recent Q&A session on Instagram, Venus was quizzed about her return to tennis. One of her fans asked, “Serena has announced her return, would you be joining her in Wimbledon?”. Venus replied to it by saying, “I never like to miss Wimbledon.”
In her career which has spanned more than two decades, Venus has skipped Wimbledon only once, which was in 2013. Out of all the Grand Slams, the American has her best track record at Wimbledon, where she won 5 of her 7 Grand Slam singles titles.
