Alex de Minaur vs Laslo Djere: Preview
Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur is coming off an unexpected defeat. After going past Jordan Thompson in a very hard-fought contest, De Minaur faced Jurij Rodionov in the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open. After winning the first set comfortably, De Minaur dropped the next two sets and was knocked out of the tournament.
The defeat will hurt Minaur as he came close to sealing the encounter in the final set but ended up losing in the tie-breaker. Moreover, his journey in the French Open 2021 was not very smooth either. He was knocked out of the marquee tournament in the second round by Italian tennis star Marco Cecchinato.
Undoubtedly, he would be a little low on confidence, however, he is capable of winning games after games at this level. Seeded four in the Cinch Championship, Minaur would be itching to make a thumping comeback by registering good wins back to back.
In order to move into the next round, Minaur would have to go past talented Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere. Djere was able to reach the third round of the French Open 2021 where he was knocked out in straight sets by Zverev.
Alex de Minaur v Laslo Djere: Head to Head
These two players have faced each other only once in the past. Alex De Minaur leads the head-to-head record by 1-0.
Alex de Minaur v Laslo Djere: Prediction
Laslo Djere has not been in the best of forms. Even in the first two rounds of the French Open 2021, he had to fight really hard in order to defeat his opponents. Needless to say, odds are in the favor of Alex de Minaur who might have been in ordinary form lately, but he does possess the capability to script a strong comeback.
Both the players would be desperate for a win as they haven’t had much success in the recent times. However, De Minaur is the one who is expected to reach the second round without much hassle as Djere has found himself struggling against him in the past.
Prediction: Alex de Minaur to win in straight sets
