Alex De Minaur has been in sublime form on grass this year. The Australian tennis star was able to reach the quarterfinal stage at the Stuttgart Open and continued his good run at Queen’s where he was knocked out in the semis. Yet again, Alex has found himself in the top four of another marquee event.
De Minaur is yet to drop a set in the tournament. He started off by thrashing Liam Broady in the first round. Right from the word go, De Minaur dominated the proceedings and won the contest in straight sets by 6-3, 6-4. He defeated Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil in a similar fashion.
De Minaur has really troubled his opponents with his incredible serves. Moreover, he won 78% of the first serve points in the quarter-final and a whopping 81% in the first-round clash. On the other hand, Kwon Soon-woo had to battle hard in the qualifiers to confirm his place in the top 16.
In the first round, Kwon was taken to the third set by Márton Fucsovics but Kwon held his nerve under pressure after dropping the second set and eventually won the contest by 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. Moreover, Kwon dominated Ilya Ivashka in the quarter-finals and won the match in straight sets.
