Novak Djokovic continues his dominant run at the Olympics 2020 as he chases his maiden Olympics Gold. The World No. 1 overcame Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 6-1 in 1 hour and 23 minutes to move into the quarter-finals of the Olympics for the 3rd time in his career.

Djokovic hit 9 aces in a disciplined service game where he made a solitary double fault. He was dominant on the 2nd serve as well and gave no space to the Spaniard to get ahead in the tie. Djokovic won 67 points while Fokina managed 44, a rather disappointing game where he hit 20 forced and 23 unforced errors to Novak’s 20 forced and 12 unforced errors.

Local boy Kei Nishikori continues his battle at the Olympics as he also makes it to his 3rd quarter-final at the Olympics. Nishikori was up against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka and went on to defeat Ivashka 7-6(7), 6-0 in 2 hours and 1 minute to wrap up a rather difficult match after the 1st set went into the tie-breaker.

Nishikori was however magnificent in the 2nd set, dropping a bagel over the Belarusian and wrapping up the set in 40 minutes despite Ivashka’s best efforts. It was a complete performance from the Japanese who made fewer errors as compared to Ivashka and was also dominant on the service, giving no opportunity to Ivashka in the 2nd set.
