Emma Raducanu confirmed to play WTA 500 event at Moscow, still no clarity on Indian Wells

Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu stunned the world 10 days back at Flushing Meadows by becoming the first player in tennis history to win a grand slam as a qualifier. She beat fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez in the US Open final to win her maiden major.

After her historic victory, she jumped a whopping 127 places in the WTA Rankings to take the No.23 spot. This massive jump has disturbed all her schedule as the entry deadline for the tournaments upto Indian Wells were over prior to the US Open. This means that Raducanu hasn’t got a direct main draw entry into any WTA tournaments till Indian Wells.

Raducanu, after reaching Kent said that she will decide her schedule in the coming week and it was speculated that she could return at Indian Wells with a wild card entry. But till date, there is no conformation whether the Brit will be competing at Indian Wells or not. If she decides to play and doesn’t get a wildcard, she will have to once again play the qualifiers despite being ranked in the top 25.
