WATCH: US Open Champion Emma Raducanu thanks her Chinese fans in Mandarin

British teen sensation Emma Raducanu has taken the sporting world by storm post her US Open triumph. She created history at Flushing Meadows last week and became the first player in tennis history to win a grand slam as a qualifier when she beat Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the final.
Emma has now become a household name globally and has broken into the top 25 of the world. She has been circling around New York for various event including the Met Gala. Coming from a multi cultural background, she is currently the hot topic, marketing wise and has bagged many exclusive deals.
Emma’s mother is a Chinese who hails from from Shenyang, China’s northeastern Liaoning Province. Hence, Emma speaks fluent Mandarin and expanded her social media game with a Weibo account. In her first post, she is seen addressing the Chinese fans in Mandarin.
“It’s a pity that I can’t go to China this year but will go and play next year,” she said, reflecting to the cancellation of the Asian leg this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, in the after party of the US Open winners, Emma addressed her fans in Mandarin from the first time. “Hi, everyone. I wanna say thank you to you guys and I hope you could enjoy my tennis. I’m thrilled to win. Love you all, see you,” she said in the end.
Emma reunites with her family
After completing a month in New York, Emma has finally reached her home in Kent. She was away from home for around 7 weeks and was received by her parents, who couldn’t see her lifting the US Open trophy live due to travel restrictions.
She is now looking to rest and recover for a few days before stepping on the court once again. She is expected to return at Indian Wells next month, where she would likely get a wild card.
