‘Every kid shouldn’t stop dreaming,’ Daniil Medvedev pens down an emotional message on behalf of every kid, calls for world peace
Daniil Medvedev
About a month ago, Daniil Medvedev got his hear broken on court when he lost the Australian Open Final against Rafael Nadal despite being two sets up. It was his chance to win a second grand slam title but Nadal, on that day, was too much for him.
After the loss, Medvedev took a dig at the Pro-Nadal Melbourne crowd and said that the obvious partiality affected his game. He went on to say that the child inside him, which kept dreaming to win big, had stopped dreaming.
Thereafter, Medvedev said that he’s not going to play tennis anymore for the crowd. Rather, he’ll play for the handful of people that support him in order to provide his family. The Russian played the Mexican Open next where he became the New World No.1 despite losing to Nadal once again in the semifinal.
‘I want to ask for peace in the world, for peace between countries:’ Medvedev
Post his semifinal loss, Medvedev shared a heartful message via social media, referring to that ‘kid’. Unlike the last time, Medvedev spoke on behalf of every kid in the world. He said that every kid has a dream and has to experience new things in daily walks of life. He then called for world peace- referring to the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
“Do you all remember what I have said after Australian Open final? This story was just about me, my childhood dreams. And today I want to speak on behalf of every kid in the world. They all have dreams, their life is just starting, so many nice experiences to come: first friends, first great emotions. Everything they feel and see is for the first time in their lives. That’s why I want to ask for peace in the world, for peace between countries,” he said.
He further added that kids are born with inner trust and for their sake, urged everyone to be together because according to him, every kid shouldn’t stop dreaming.
“Kids are born with inner trust in the world, they believe so much in everything: in people, in love, in safety and justice, in their chances in life. Let’s be together and show them that it’s true, cause every kid shouldn’t stop dreaming,” he said.
