Roger Federer vs Cameron Norrie : Preview
Roger Federer advances into the 3rd round of the Wimbledon 2021 in what was an old-vintage performance from the Swiss Maestro who was flawless on the Centre Court playing against Richard Gasquet. Richard did show some resilience in the first set taking Federer into tie breaker but it was not enough as Federer came charging to win the match in straight-sets.
Federer defeated Gasquet 7-6(1), 6-1, 6-4 in 1 hour and 51 minutes to move into the 3rd round. After a difficult first round match which had an unfortunate ending with Adrian Mannarino injured at the end of 4th set, Federer looked in better shape tonight as he did not give any chance of a comeback to Gasquet after the 1st set.
Cameron Norrie sets up a dream clash as he prepares to face the 8-time Champion in the 3rd round. Norrie who has reached the 3rd round for the very first time at the All-England Club will be charged up and raring to go as he looks to advance ahead at his home Grand Slam.
Norrie defeated Australian Alex Bolt 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 in 1 hour and 35 minutes to register his first 2nd round win at the Wimbledon. He also had a 4-setter clash in the first round like Federer which he won after losing the first set and will now be eyeing one of the biggest upsets of the Grand Slam if he’s able to defeat Federer in the 3rd round and make it to Round 4.
Roger Federer vs Cameron Norrie : Head to Head
This will be their 2nd meeting and 1st meeting on Grass. They last met at the 2018 Hopman Cup where Federer won in straight-sets and leads the head-to-head tie 1-0.
Roger Federer vs Cameron Norrie : Prediction
Norrie will come into the tie with a career Grass record of 14-19 but has a 6-1 record this year on Grass after a great week at the Queen’s Club 2021 where he finished as the runner-up. He has an overall season record of 35-13 and will be in a tough battle against Federer and would need some brilliant execution and planning to cause an upset.
As always, Federer will come to the Centre Court as the favourite for the clash. He has a 178-20 record on Grass and is 6-3 for the season. Despite having a bit rusty show in the 1st round, he looked flawless today and if he continues this form, it won’t be a difficult battle for the 20-time Grand Slam winner against Norrie.
Prediction: Roger Federer to win in 4-sets.
