Roger Federer vs Lorenzo Sonego : Preview
Roger Federer reaches the 4th round at Wimbledon for the 18th time in his career and in the process becomes the oldest male player to reach the last-16 since 1975. Federer was up against local lad Cameron Norrie, whom he went on to defeat 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in 2 hours and 35 minutes to move ahead into the 2nd week.
This was Federer‘s second 4-set victory this week after winning both his first and third round matches in 4-sets and won his 2nd round clash in straight-sets. Federer has never lost in a 4th round clash at the Wimbledon and will be eyeing to maintain his record when he takes on Sonego.
Lorenzo Sonego continues his wonderful run at the Wimbledon 2021 as he moves into the 4th round for the very first time at the Grand Slam. Playing in his 3rd Wimbledon, Sonego was winless coming into the tournament this year, having lost in the first round in both 2018 and 2019. His first round win this week was his first win at the All-England Club.
Sonego defeated James Duckworth 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 47 minutes to advance into the Round of 16. This was his 2nd straight-set victory of this week after having won his 2nd round match in 4-sets.

This will be their 2nd career meeting and first on Grass. The duo met for the first time in the 1st round of the 2019 French Open where Federer won in straight-sets and leads the head-to-head tie 1-0.

Sonego will come into the tie with a career Grass record of 13-8 as he is playing his 3rd Grass season of his career. He has an overall season record of 21-13 this season which was revived by his good results on Clay after going 4-5 on Hardcourts.
Federer will be the favourite coming into this tie. He has an outstanding Grass record of 180-20 and is 8-3 for the season. While he certainly looked a bit off in his 1st round match, he has picked up form and is looking back at his usual best.
