Cristian Garin vs Marcos Giron: Preview
The Chilean player is coming into the third round of 2021 French Open after having played two grueling matches in the opening two rounds. After beating Juan Londero in four sets, Garin came back from a two set deficit to down Mackenzie Mcdonald in five stunning sets. The 25-year-old has already played close to 20 matches on the dirt this season and besides winning the title in Santiago in March, he also made two quarterfinals in Estoril and Madrid. He has also ready beaten big games—Daniil Medvedev and Fernando Verdasco this season on the clay and will be keen on sealing his place in the fourth round for the first time at Roland Garros.
On the other hand, the American had made his first ever third round at Roland Garros. While he was lucky to beat Grigor Dimitrov in the first round, after the Bulgarian retired after leading by two sets, Giron played well to overcome the clay court specialist Guido Pella in four sets in the second round. Although Giron has played nine matches on the clay in 2021, he has remained a qualifier at most events in the European clay court swing, exiting the tournaments early.

These two have never met on the ATP tour yet.
Cristian Garin vs Marcos Giron: Prediction
While there is little to separate the two players based on their previous two rounds, Garin might be a slight favourite considering his recent run on the clay. This match has all the ingredients to go the distance. That said, Giron needs to work on his return game and ensure he converts most of his break point opportunities to prolong and win this contest. At the moment, it is a close call.
Match Prediction: Cristian Garin should win in five sets.
