‘Growing up idolizing Venus and Serena Williams!’ Danielle Collins becomes America’s No.1 Player Post Australian Open 2022

Although Danielle Collins missed the Australian Open title by an inch this time, the player has gained a lot of fan following and support. Her performance in the match was widely appreciated and her rank also improved. She is officially the highest-ranked female American player currently.
Collins became the No.1 Female player of America and saved herself a place in the WTA World Top 10 rankings. She jumped 20 spots from World No.30 to World No.10. Despite losing the crown, she tells her fans that she feels like a winner and was privileged to play against World No.1 Ash Barty.
Danielle Collins shares her Feelings
Danielle explained how she felt after this recognition. She said that she grew up idolizing the Greatest of All Times Serena and Venus Williams and watching them become the sports leaders of her country and eventually conquering the tennis world. She also said that it was unbelievable for her to achieve this ranking. It is like her dream come true.
“It means a lot to me. Especially growing up idolizing Venus and Serena Williams and them being the leaders of our sport in our country, especially for the last, I don’t know, 20 years almost,” Collins said.
She added that she has now ticked one thing of her list and is now ready to accomplish new goals. “To be the top-ranked American now means so much to me. It’s something that I think everybody dreams of, for people that want to be professional tennis players. But to be able to accomplish this means the world to me,” she said.
“I’m kind of at a loss of words and almost uncomfortable thinking about it. I’m just really excited that I was able to achieve this because to be Top 10 in the world has been on the top of my list for my goals for a while now. And now, I’m going to have to reevaluate and make some new goals, I’m really excited,” she added.
