‘Done yourself and the whole country proud,’ Harry Kane congratulates Emma Raducanu on her US Open triumph

British teen Emma Raducanu has been the talk of the town off late courtesy of her historic win at the US Open. She became the first player to win a grand slam in tennis history coming from the qualifiers. She also became the first British woman in almost 5 decades to win a grand slam.
Raducanu defeated fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez in the final and doing so became the youngest grand slam winner since Maria Sharapova in 2004. She added another feather to her hat by becoming the first player since Serena Williams to win the US Open without dropping a set. As a result, she climbed up a whopping 117 places to be the new World No.23.
She received a lot of praise from top celebrities all around the world, especially Britishers for her historic feat. English football star and Tottenham player Harry Kane also took to twitter to congratulate Emma. “Amazing achievement @EmmaRaducanu. Done yourself and the whole country proud. Congratulations!” Kane wrote.

Raducanu has been attending events and interviews all day since her US Open triumph in New York. She has become a household name within a fortnight and hence was invited to the biggest party in NYC- The Met Gala.
Emma made her Met Gala debut in Chanel and was seen donning aย printed monochrome ensemble designed by Virginie Viard, featuring a cropped top, mid-length skirt and pearl-embellished belt. She finished her look with matching earrings and some pointed patent boots.
Apart from Emma, several other tennis stars like Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Sloane Stephens, Felix Auger Alissime and Leylah Fernandez were invited to the event. Osaka was also the co-chair at this year’s Met Gala.
