Since former top-ranked players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal decided to call time on their 2021 season ahead of the 2021 US Open, a few shake-ups were expected in the ATP rankings.

Furthermore, with the absence of 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem, there were quite a few slots up for grabs in the top-10 of the men’s rankings. Now, after the Indian Wells tournament, which got concluded last week, quite a few changes have taken place in the ATP rankings.

While World No.1 Novak Djokovic continues to lead the pack, closely followed by World No.2 Daniil Medvedev, 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer has exited the top-10 rankings for the first time since 2017. The Swiss is currently ranked 11 and is further expected to lose more points before the year draws to a close.

Meanwhile, Poland’s rising star Hubert Hurkacz has attained a career-high ranking of No.10. Interestingly, it was the Pole who knocked out Federer at this year’s Wimbledon in the quarterfinals.

Along with Hurkacz, Casper Ruud too has moved a spot up to No.9 in the ATP charts. The Norwegian has been one of the most improved players on the tour this year.

But perhaps, the biggest move came in the form of Cameron Norrie. The Brit shocked one and all by winning the Indian Wells Masters. The southpaw defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili in the finals at the Indian Wells Masters. Norrie has moved up 10 spots in is currently ranked 16 in the World.

Hubert became only the second man from Poland to break into the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings after Wojtek Fibak. About four years ago, the 2021 Miami Masters winner was outside the World’s Top 400.

On the other hand, Iga Swiatek from the women’s section might have slid to No.11 in the WTA rankings currently. But a week ago, the 2020 French Open champion was ranked as high as 4 in the world.
