“I don’t even think about Clay now!” Rafael Nadal talks about future plans after the Australian Open victory
Rafael Nadal
Australian Open has been one of the worst grand slams for Rafael Nadal. He had played the finals of the tournament five times and only managed to win the title once in his career. Nadal was making a comeback from an injury and wasn’t expecting much from the tournament.
Nadal showed great resilience, dedication, and perseverance throughout the Australian Open. He defeated much younger and fitter opponents in difficult matches. He did all that while having physical problems throughout the tournament and was concerned about his foot staying intact.
As they say, rest is history, Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the Australian Open and won his 21st grand slam title. During the press conference when he was asked about his future plans, he said “I don’t even think about Clay now!”
Rafael Nadal not thinking about Roland Garros
Rafael Nadal at what could be considered as the twilight of his career managed to win the Australian Open title. He worked so hard to make it to the finals and even after being two sets down in the finals fought back and won the final in great fashion.
The match lasted for 5 and a half hours and took every ounce of energy out of the two players. After the five-set thriller both the players were physically exhausted.
Nadal during the post-match conference was asked about his plans for the future with Roland Garros coming up to which he replied by saying, “I don’t know. I even don’t think about clay now. I think to stay more in the moment than to think so far in front and yeah I don’t know what could happen on clay. Hopefully, some events before clay and enjoying this moment. Trying to be back home and share with the family this unforgettable moment and then I could think about what’s next for me”
