It was great, I loved the whole tradition and the whole atmosphere we had on court and coming back to same court where i played as a junior, it brought lot of memories back. I was pretty excited to play there. About the match, my coach prepared me really well and we used the best tactics possible.” said Iga about her preparation for the match.

Before the grass season, I wanted it to be like every match, to be calm and not be pumped of playing the Grand Slam. but it was not possible to maintain that mood, my attitude changed after Eastbourne which wasn’t very positive because it is very nice and easy when there are no expectations.

But when I came here everyone started talking about my Junior Wimbledon title, so I realised that it will be very nice to win some matches here. So I had some expectations and it is a bit of relief but also the tournament has just started so I hope I keep going and perform well.” said Iga about her performance and the relief of winning her first match at Wimbledon.

I’m really happy that my serve was working. it really gave me a lot it was a typical grass court match cause i was dominating on my serve so it gave me lot of confidence. the serve is the thing I like to lean on when I have few problems, cause it’s the same on both the kind of surfaces I am playing on. It was really working well and I am happy about that.” said Iga concluding her press-conference.

Iga Swiatek will have to wait for a day before knowing her Round 2 opponent.
