REVEALED! Iga Swiatek’s potential path to Claim her maiden Indian Wells title

2020 French Open champion Iga Swiatek will enter the 2021 Indian Wells as the second seed. This will be the first time that she’ll enter a WTA 1000 tournament as one of the top seeds. To the say least, she’ll be one of the major contender to lift the trophy at the desert this year.
She has evolved as an all-court player post her French Open triumph and has only risen up the ranks. She is currently at a career high ranking of No.4 in the world and is currently 7th in the race to WTA Finals. The Pole has reached the second week of every major this year and is the only female tennis player to do so this season. Latest, she lost to Maria Sakkari in the semifinals of the Ostrava Open.
In Indian Wells, she has been handed a relatively tough draw from the third round itself. She will face either Petra Martic or Katie Volynets in the second round after receiving a first round bye. She is then expected to lock horns with 25th seed Veronika Kudermetova in the third round.
Iga Swiatek’s road to glory at the desert
In the Round of 16, she will have to battle past either of the two inform players- 13th seed Elena Rybakina or 24th seed Jelena Ostapenko. Things will get difficult of Swiatek in the second week of the tournament. In the quarterfinals, she could face either Olympic champion Belinda Bencic, US Open runner-up and giantkiller Leylah Fernandez or French Open runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
In the bottom half, she is drawn alongwith 4th seed Elina Svitolina, whom she could face in the semifinal. Other notable names in the bottom half are Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Simona Halep and US Open champion Emma Raducanu. And if Swiatek manages to reach the final, she is expected to face top seed Karolina Pliskova, third seed Barbora Krejcikova or fifth seed Garbine Muguruza.
