Iga Swiatek has had a tremendous start to the 2022 season. She had a very good Australian leg where she made it to the semifinals of both Adelaide International and the Australian Open. In the Middle-Eastern leg, she reached the Round of 16 of the Dubai Tennis Championships before winning the Qatar Open- her 4th career title. This week at Indian Wells, she is looking to win a second consecutive WTA 1000 title. She defeated the likes of Anhelina Kalinina and Clara Tauson in the opening rounds before beating Angelique Kerber in the Round of 16 in three sets 4-6,6-2,6-3.
Madison Keys had a dream start to the 2022 season. In the Australian leg, she won the Adelaide International 2 event and then made it to the semifinal of the Australian Open where she lost to eventual champion Ash Barty. But in the Mexican leg, she bowed out in the first round at Guadalajara and Monterrey. At Indian Wells this week, she defeated Misaki Doi and Alison Riske in the early round and then blasted past Harriet Dart in the fourth round in straight sets 6-1,6-4 to book a date with Swatek.
