Naomi Osaka has four majors to her name so far, being one of the most successful female stars active presently despite her young age. Despite a recent slump in form, the Japanese star still commands immense respect both on and off the court. In her last appearance, she was dumped out of the Australian Open third round by Amanda Anisimova in a rather disappointing manner.

Jennifer Brady reflects back upon crazy match against Osaka

In her illustrious career, Naomi Osaka has played a number of thrilling matches over the years. She has dominated the head-to-head battles against some big names like Serena Williams.

In a recent interview, rival Jennifer Brady opened up on her encounter with the Japanese star at the 2020 US Open. In the semi-final of the tournament, the duo played an exhilarating three-set thriller which was ultimately clinched by Osaka, who then went on to win the tournament.

Looking back at the iconic match, Jennifer Brady revealed that the match was something like she had never played in, with the rain pouring hard with the sound of the rain overpowering the stadium due to the closed roof. She then went on to declare the contest as one of the best ever.

 “Yeah, it was really strange. It was different. Honestly, all I could hear was the rain. The roof was closed. It was absolutely downpouring. All I could hear was the rain hitting the roof, and I was like Jesus, absolutely pouring out there during the match. But it was definitely one of the best matches.”- said the American.

Osaka went on to win the contest 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. The American had not dropped a set in that tournament en route to her semi-final, but could not handle the young Japanese sensation on that occasion.
