Jabeur comes into this match after surviving a three setter against local favourite Bianca Andreescu. She also beat Daria Kasatkina and Clara Burel earlier in the tournament. The Tunisian has been one of the most consistent players on the tour this year, owing to which she has even managed to better her rankings. On the hard courts though, the 26-year-old is yet to reach the deep end of the tournament for the year. Considering her form in Montreal, who knows how far she can go?

On the other hand, Pegula comes into this round after beating Danielle Collins in three sets. She has also beaten nagging players in Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Anett Kontaveit in the earlier rounds. Interestingly, the American has played full three sets in all her matches so far in the tournament. The 27-year-old has won 20 matches on the hard courts in 2021 thus far, with her best results coming in Doha (semis), Dubai and Melbourne (quarters). In the process, Pegula has also beaten big names Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova and Victoria Azarenka.

Ons Jabeur vs Jessica Pegula: Prediction

Ons Jabeur

This match all the makings of an interesting battle as both players like to execute a totally opposite brand of tennis. While Pegula will try to blaze away with her forehand, Jabeur will be keen on chipping and changing the flow of her shots, to upset the rhythm of her opponent. Also Jabuer will need to arrest her series of double faults to keep her nose in front. Moreover, both players have spent plenty of hours on the court, which could lead to a bit of fatigue along the way. A three setter appears likely with perhaps the Tunisian moving ahead considering her variety.

Match Prediction: Ons Jabeur should win in three sets.
