Jannik Sinner had decided to part ways with his long-time coach Riccardo Piatti. The Italian had been training under Piatti since he was 13, but he hinted during the Australian Open that he was looking towards a partnership with a new coach.

According to Sky Sports, the decision to end the 8-year partnership was reportedly made at the beginning of the season in Australia and will be announced officially in the next few days. But Sinner hasn’t announced a replacement yet. John McEnroe and Simone Vagnozzi are speculated to be the frontrunners to replace Piatti.

The Italian teenager thrived under the mentorship of the veteran Piatti. Within a year of turning pro, Sinner broke into the top-100 of the ATP rankings and won the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2019. He then followed it up with an impressive season in 2020, when he reached his career’s first Grand Slam semi-final at the Roland Garros.
