Moreover, McDonald won the second set in an emphatic fashion by 6-4. However, Sinner used his experience to good effect in the deciding set and forced McDonald to commit a few errors which eventually allowed him to take home the coveted trophy.

The Italian won the contest by 7-5, 6-4, 7-5, and scripted history as he became the first teenager to win an ATP 500 event. It would be fair to say that the young gun deserved to win as he outclasses some top-quality players to earn his place in the finals.

He defeated Sebastian Korda in straight sets in the round of 16s clash which gave a fair indication to his opponents that this boy means business. He had absolutely no problems getting past Steve Johnson and Jenson Brooksby in the quarter and semi-finals respectively.

After becoming the youngest quarterfinalist in the men’s singles event at the 2020 French Open, Sinner proved that he is one to look out for, even for the best in the business. Moreover, this win will give him a lot of confidence going into the big tournaments in the future.
