Madison Keys vs Lauren Davis: Preview

Madison Keys

Keys is a former Wimbledon quarterfinalist and has shown in the past that she can play and succeed on grass. The American has also won two titles on grass after winning Eastbourne in 2014 and Birmingham in 2016. The 26-year-old also made the quarterfinals in Berlin on grass. If she can move better and get into better hitting positions, she can be a big threat at the grass courts of the All England Club. She beat Katie Swan comfortably in the opening round and should fancy her chances of making the second week at Wimbledon.

On the other hand, Davis beat the British wildcard Jodie Anna Burrage in less than an hour in the first round. The American got off to a poor start, losing her opening service game, but she broke back her opponent and never looked back since. The 27-year-old also managed to reach the semifinals of Nottingham ahead of Wimbledon. That said, it remains to be seen if she can go past the third round for the very time at the All England Club.

Keys is a far accomplished grass court player as compared to her compatriot Davis. Keys is also seeded at Wimbledon and if she can keep her big game in place consistently, then Davis will most likely to fade away.

Match Prediction: Madison Keys should win in two sets.
